The Houses of the Ones Belonging to the Saltwater at the University of British Columbia introduced nearly 1,000 new student housing beds within a revitalized campus precinct adjacent to Walter Gage Residence. Designed by Hotson Architecture and Ryder Architecture, the five-building development creates a vibrant residential community centered around connection, wellness, and student life.

The project included new residential buildings, shared amenity spaces, landscaped courtyards, and public realm improvements that strengthen the relationship between housing and the surrounding campus environment. Built within an active and high-density university setting, the development required careful coordination and phased construction while supporting the long-term growth of UBC’s student housing network.
